Charity Fashion Live has been and gone, and we’re sad to wave goodbye to another brilliant event, celebrating the versatility, beauty and fun of shopping second hand.
Once again we were blown away by the speed and flair with which stylist Emma recreated London Fashion Week looks, using only items found in one Barnardo’s store. The buzz of event day, and general excitement of everyone taking part, was infectious, and we hope you’ve all been inspired to make preloved your first love when it comes to shopping for clothes!
The action isn’t over though, as over the coming weeks we’re going to be holding some free drop-in workshops with Barnardo’s, in three of their London stores. Come along to one, or all three if you’re keen, for a chance to pick up some simple sewing and upcycling skills that will help you transform items into catwalk-ready creations. With these new skills, some imagination and a dash of creativity you’ll own clothes that are totally unique to you. Leave those awkward “same-dress at the party” moments to someone else!
So our three workshops focus on different trends we’ve seen during London Fashion Week – you can pick the sort of trend you’d like to recreate and come along to that workshop…
If your dress sense is a bit out-there and you love being audacious with your clothes (think loud, proud and sticks out in a crowd) our first workshop at Barnardo’s Marylebone is definitely for you. Drop in any time between 12:00 and 15:00 on Saturday 25 February and get those creative juices flowing. Find out more and sign up for free.
If double denim is your dream, then our Brixton workshop on Saturday 4 March is a match made in heaven. David Mumford, fashion stylist and supercrafter extraordinaire, will show you some simple hacks that will help you transform your denim into something unique to you and bang on trend. Check out the event page for more info.
At our final workshop, in Barnardo’s Crouch End on Saturday 11 March, you’ll get the opportunity to learn from our amazing supercrafter Barley, of Fabrications in Hackney. There’ll be loads of beautiful fabrics and fab haberdashery, handpicked from her treasure trove of goodies, to inspire you to revamp an item of clothing into something uniquely yours. Drop in any time between 12:00 and 15:00.
If you can’t make any of these workshops, don’t worry. There’s always loads going on in London; from sewing and upcycling workshops to swapping and swishing parties, take your pick and get involved. Check out the events page to see what’s on.
