Clothes hanging in a wardrobe.

Do I need to buy new clothes?

The first thing to ask when you’re thinking about buying clothes is – do I really need to?

If you’re like the average UK householder, you’re probably sitting on over £1,000 worth of clothes that you’ve forgotten about, stuffed in the back of wardrobes, in drawers and under beds. By having a really good rummage, you could be reunited with some long-lost favourites, and save yourself a packet.

That’s why it’s important that you take control of your wardrobe, so you can keep on top of what you’ve already got.

Or if you decide that your clothes are looking a bit jaded, check out our advice on refashioning and upcycling, to give them a new lease of life.

And how about swapping, sharing or hiring? Have some fun with it – get some friends round, try some clothes on, and get some pointers on what suits you best.
